Join us tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, 2025, to discuss the back end of teh fuel cycle in a webinar hosted jointly by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Department of Nuclear Energy, the Office of Nuclear Energy | U.S. Department of Energy, and the Energy Communities Alliance will provide information on the implementation of Canada’s Plan for the long-term management of radioactive waste. This webinar will be delivered by senior staff of Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), the organization responsible for radioactive waste and spent fuel management in Canada. WHAT YOU'VE MISSED:

Westinghouse delegation visits Congress to “sell” AP1000 nuclear technology

The group arranged more than 80 meetings with their congressional delegations to educate lawmakers about nuclear energy and ask for support in deploying new reactors across the United States. Nuclear stakeholders are worried about losing investment and production tax credits as congressional Republicans look to reverse tax cuts that were included in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, according to E&E News.

State legislation: Texas considers $2B incentive fund to attract new nuclear projects

A bill being considered in the Texas legislature would create a taxpayer-funded program to draw advanced nuclear projects to the state. GOP state Rep. Cody Harris authored House Bill 14, which proposes use of public dollars to help fund nuclear construction, provide grants for reactors, and continue development research. The legislation would allocate up to $2 billion for a new Texas Advanced Nuclear Deployment Office and create within it a state coordinator position to assist in the state and federal permitting processes, according to Inside Climate News.
