Senate subcommittee marks up FY12 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development marked up and approved the Fiscal Year 2012 (FY12) funding bill for the Department of Energy this afternoon.

The FY12 bill provides $31.625 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of the Interior, and DOE. This is $57 million below the FY11 enacted level.
  
The full Senate Appropriations Committee will take up the spending bill at 3 p.m. tomorrow. We will continue to follow the matter and keep you updated.
 
DOE Funding Levels
 
The subcommittee legislation would provide $25.549 billion for DOE and an additional $241 for independent agencies (such as the NRC), as follows:

Defense Environmental Cleanup would receive $5.002 billion
FY11 Enacted: $5 billion
FY12 President's Request: $5.4 billion
FY12 House Bill: $4.9 billion
 
Non-Defense Environmental Cleanup would receive $219 million
FY11 Enacted: $223 million
FY12 President's Request: $219 million
FY12 House Bill: $254 million
 
Weapons Activities would receive $7.190 billion
FY11 Enacted: $6.9 billion
FY12 President's Request: $7.6 billion
FY12 House Bill: $7.1 billion
 
Nuclear Nonproliferation would receive $2.383 billion
FY11 Enacted: $2.27 billion
FY12 President's Request: $2.52 billion
FY12 House Bill: $2.09 billion
 
Nuclear Energy would receive $584 million
FY11 Enacted: $726 million
FY12 President's Request: $754 million
FY12 House Bill: $734 million

Energy and Efficiency and Renewable Energy would receive $1.796 billion
FY11 Enacted: $1.8 billion
FY12 President's Request: $3.2 billion
FY12 House Bill: $1.3 billion

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission would receive $129 million
FY11 Enacted: $23 million
FY12 President's Request: $29 million
FY12 House Bill: $29 million
 
The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board would receive $29 million
