Knoxville News Sentinel | October 13, 2017
Environmental groups’ demands for a hearing concerning the Tennessee Valley Authority’s plans for small nuclear reactors at its abandoned Clinch River site near
Kingston have been granted.
The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ruled Tuesday that the hearing must be held concerning TVA’s application for an early site permit for the reactors.
The hearing was demanded by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and the Tennessee Environmental
Council.
