Anne White has officially been sworn in as Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management (EM-1) at the US Department of Energy (DOE) according to an email obtained by ECA that White sent to DOE employees. She was confirmed by the Senate on March
22.
"I am honored to have been sworn in as the new Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management. The EM mission is a vital one for this country," the email reads. "I know the EM program has a history of success, and I am committed to continuing that progress while ensuring the safety of the workers at our sites, the public and the environment."
In the email,
White thanked former Acting EM-1 Jim Owendoff for his leadership of the office over the past year. ECA would like to echo the thanks. Mr. Owendoff has been an active participant in ECA meetings, and we have appreciated his willingness to discuss tough issues and engage with ECA membership.
ECA congratulates Anne White for her new role at DOE. We look forward to working with White going forward on the
important cleanup issues impacting local communities across the DOE
complex.
