The House is expected to take up the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act of 2017 (H.R. 3053) next week, according to a notice published by the House Rules Committee. The legislation, introduced by Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) in June 2017, was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee on a 49-4 vote last year. It previously did not receive floor time in the House due to concerns from Appropriators that language in the bill limited their
oversight on how money from the Nuclear Waste Fund is spent. Lawmakers have made changes to the legislation to address these concerns; a comparative print showing the changes is available
HERE.
The House Rules Committee is set to meet on the measure Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM EST.
