The Department of Energy (DOE) and Army Corps of engineers are set to receive funding increases under the $44.7 billion FY2019 Energy and Water Appropriations bill released by the House Appropriations Committee yesterday evening. The House Appropriations Committee’s Energy and Water Development
Subcommittee will mark up the legislation this evening at 5:30 PM ET. DOE would see a funding increase of more than $500 million. The Committee issued a
press release with bill highlights. Key DOE program funding levels are listed below:
Defense Environmental Cleanup: The bill provides $5.8
billion, a $230 million decrease from FY2018 enacted levels and $130 million above the Presidents FY2019 request.
Nuclear Energy: The bill provides $1.35 billion, an increase of $141 million above FY2018 enacted levels and $590 million above the Presidents FY2019 request.
Nuclear Waste Disposal: The
bill provides $190 million, a $100 million increase above the Presidents FY2019 request. The FY2018 enacted budget does not provide funding for nuclear waste disposal.
Defense Nuclear Waste Disposal: The bill provides $30 million, consistent with the Presidents FY2019 request. The FY2019 enacted budget does not provide funding for defense nuclear waste disposition.
NNSA Weapons Activities: The bill provides $11.2 billion, a $557 million increase above FY2018 enacted levels and $182 million above the Presidents FY2019 request.
NNSA Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation: The bill provides $1.9 billion, a $97 million decrease from FY2018 enacted levels and $39 million above the Presidents
FY2019
request.
