ENERGY COMMUNITIES ALLIANCE
Register for ECA’s Upcoming Webinar: “Engaging Energy Communities in Advanced Nuclear Demonstration Projects” on May 4th
ECA Staff | 4/15/2021
As part of the New Nuclear Initiative series, ECA is hosting a webinar, “Engaging Energy Communities in Advanced Nuclear Demonstration Projects” on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, from 12:00 pm EDT to 3:15 pm EDT. Discussion will focus on the role for local governments as potential hosts for
new nuclear demonstration projects. Keynote speakers include Ashley Finan, Director of the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) and Christine King, Director, Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) Initiative.
ECA’s New Nuclear Initiative aims to help communities knowledgeable about - and in many ways driven by - the nuclear missions they already host, be an integral part of the nuclear future. ECA members want to be meaningfully engaged - and prepared - to match their communities’ strengths, unique experiences and resources (i.e., skilled workforce, relationships with DOE/national laboratories, community colleges
and contractors) to best support advanced nuclear and decarbonization goals, and build future economic development opportunities. Through this series of educational webinars, ECA is helping to facilitate interaction with policymakers at the federal, state and local level, economic development entities, regulators and developers.
Please find below the draft agenda and registration link. Please contact ECA Program Manager MacKenzie Kerr at mackenziek@energyca.org with any questions.
We look forward to your participation.

ADVANCED REACTORS
Advanced reactors explained
Office of Nuclear Energy | 4/21/21
Advanced reactors are any light water or non-light water fission reactor with significant improvements over today's reactors. These improvements could be: inherent safety features, lower waste yields, greater fuel utilization, superior reliability, resistance to proliferation, increased thermal efficiency, and the ability to integrate into electric and nonelectric applications.
MANHATTAN PROJECT NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK
Manhattan Project National Historical Park Stakeholder Engagement Community Meetings
NPS | 4/15/2021
The National Park Service (NPS) wants to hear from the public as we prepare an interpretive plan for future programming, exhibits, and media at Manhattan Project National Historical Park (Manhattan Project NHP) that will capture a wide array of experiences and perspectives.
Manhattan Project NHP is initiating a stakeholder engagement process as part of the interpretive planning process for the park. Engagement sessions will be organized both by theme and by region, with the latter focused on the regions surrounding the three Manhattan Project NHP locations - Hanford, WA; Los Alamos, NM; and Oak Ridge, TN. Due to ongoing public health restrictions associated with COVID-19,
all events will be held virtually.
The NPS is hosting public meetings in each of the park’s communities April 20-22, 2021. Meeting schedule and registration information is as follows:
- Hanford Community Meeting, Tuesday, April 20, 5:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Individuals interested in attending can register at the following link: Hanford Community
