House subcommittee to markup energy appropriations bill today
ECA Staff | 7/12/2021
The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development will hold a markup hearing on FY 2022 appropriations today at 1:00 PM ET.
Over the weekend, the committee released the text of the upcoming energy spending legislation, which includes $45.1 billion for the Department of Energy.
According to appropriators, the bill includes $20.2 billion for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA); $1.68 billion for the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE); $7.76 billion for the Office of Environmental Management (EM); and $27.5 million for "interim storage of nuclear waste and oversight of the Nuclear Waste Fund."
Further details about spending at each DOE site, including cleanup funding and PILT, will be known after the committee releases a bill report.
While the House is beginning work on FY 2022 spending, the Senate has not set a schedule for appropriations markups, and the expectation is that a continuing resolution will be needed in September when current government funding expires.
The markup hearing will be live-streamed on the committee's website here.
